65. Barrett, Stanley R. The Rise and Fall of an African Utopia: A Wealthy Theocracy in Contemporary Perspective. Waterloo, ON: Wilfrid Laurier Univ. Press, 1977.
According to H. Turner, 1980 (see item 693), this book is praiseworthy
for its thoroughness. Barrett finds that economics was a necessary
but not sufficient factor in the development of the Holy
Apostles Church; instead the founder's charisma and the influence
on him of church history seem to have been decisive in setting
the movement's communal form.
